Auntie Phee has been lonely.
She misses living with her family.
One day, she told Grammy "I miss my sister"
Grammy noticed something else.
When Auntie Phee is trying to get back to her room
She gets confused and asks "Where is my room?"
So Grammy says she thinks God gave her an idea.
"What if we make a special wreath for her door
that has a picture of her sister. She will see the picture
on the wreath and know that is HER room."
So, they did.
Here is Auntie Phee before we started. She looks a little sad because she was looking at the picture of her sister that she misses.
Next step, here is Auntie Phee sticking in the flowers, she did a really good job grouping the colors. She said she didn't think she knew how to do it ... but she did! It looks GREAT.
The grand finale.
Auntie Phees bit of Marianna.
The pretty flowers represent the beautiful English gardens that Nuna grew. Grammy asked Auntie Phee what colors were in Nuna's garden and she repeatedly anwsered "bright, colorful and cheerful" So, we have bright, colorful and cheerful flowers for the Marianna wreath.
Look at this happy face.
Auntie Phee loved the picture of her sister, Grammy's mom, your great grandmother, Irene in the frame.
Auntie Phee and Grammy had such a lovely time. They thanked Jesus for the blessing of flowers and pictures.
Together they sang
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee,
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art,
Then sings my soul,
My Savior, God to Thee,
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
When you listen to that music I want you to imagine a beautiful wooden church, stained glass windows. Everyone in their best clothes. The music came from a piano, the singing was lead by a man in his suit, waving his hand up and down to keep everyone together.
There was a little girl in her cute dress, cute hat and white gloves and she was hearing this song every Sunday. Her name was Phyllis, her mom was Eleanor, and her sister was Irene. She had brothers and a father. All dressed in suits.
Many years have passed, and now that little girl, who sat with her daddy in church is a grandma, it's Phyllis, Auntie Phee and her heart still goes back to that simple time, she thinks about God and she sings the song she sang when she was little
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to thee,
How great Thou art,
How great thou art,
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee,
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
Auntie Phee and Grammy sat "Irene" in the chair beside them while they had tea.
Here is Auntie Phee - SO happy!
She is eating fresh tomatoes from our friend the Cobbs.
She LOVED them. Auntie Phee smelled the tomatoes and said "ahh, I haven't smelled that in years"
She ate two tomatoes and a spoon full of cottage cheese. She thought it was JUST right.
We love you, Auntie Phee
