The Atmosphere

Our sky is has several layers. The first layer, the one we are in is called the troposphere. It is about 4 to 10 miles straight up in the air. 

After the troposphere comes the stratosphere. That's where the really FAST jets fly ... WAY up high.

Next time you are on a road trip, pretend the road is driving straight up into the sky. All the toys in the van would fall into the back. Your hair, if it's long, would fall back towards the seat and your cheeks would feel like they are being pulled toward the back of the seat .... It would be like going up the track on a roller coaster

When you are in your van, ask your parent to clock 10 miles on the odometer and pretend during all that time you are driving ... going straight UP, UP, UP until you reach 10 miles. 

That is how far up the top of the troposphere is.
