Johnny's Week 6

Week 6 at boot camp is called ... grass week - rifle range.

Those of you that know Johnny, know that he LOVES guns.
Here are some pictures of him with different guns.

Air guns

He said this bad boy weighed a ton.

I bet Johnny has been really looking forward to this week in boot camp.
Johnny is probably having fun as he learns how to be a rifleman.

Here is some info I found about the grass week, rifle training week.

Today they will also get to spend some time in the ISMT (indoor simulated Marksmanship Trainer) and see how they shoot using a computerized program. They use a rifle that is about the same weight attached to a cable that is connected to the computer and they fire at electronic targets and can get an instant feedback on their shots. It can even show them how much they were moving before the shot... They will also be learning how to make adjustments on their rifle for them since each weapon and shooter are different, they have to adjust it to how they shoot.

Then they will also get to fire their rifle finally in a grouping exercise to make sure that their weapon is adjusted just for them. Overall, they will spend all this week in many agonizing hours perfecting these positions aiming at that silly barrel and images of targets painted on the squadbay walls so that next week they will not be as sore in these new positions and they will also have the proper position that the USMC is a stickler about when firing for qualification.

Some positions they have to learn to shoot from.

prone

And this is the gun they learn to shoot

It's called an M16 A4.

Real footage from last years boot camp training.

I don't know much about guns, but I know that in boot camp you have to learn how to use them. AND you have to learn how to hike long, long distances carrying them.

Personally, guns scare me, I don't like the loud noise. When we lived in the country Benj would shoot his gun from the back porch (redneck), I would run and hide in my kennel because the sound was so loud.
I am glad that Johnny is learning how to use one so that he will be safe when he goes out to protect us.

That's it for this week.
Did you remember to pray for Johnny?
Did you write a letter to him ... Zackary, Henry and Ethan?

This is his address, just in case you need it.

Here is a video for you to watch. It's not about Johnny or the Marines but it's about the M16 rifle.
It's a 10 minute movie and it shows people shooting a lot of guns.
If you like guns, you might like the movie.

I love you all ...
