Johnny Goes to Boot Camp Interview

I visited with Johnathan one afternoon before he left. We had a nice visit. Johnathan is a really fun guy. He answered all my questions and let me take pictures. He is good friends of our family and good friends with Uncle Benj.

Here we are chatting by the computer. I had a list of questions written down on this note book you see here.

By the way, how do you like my collar? It's my Christmas collar, it says "Always Nice, Never Naughty" Mary likes that collar and says that it is TRUE about me.

Back to the real subject, Johnathan's interview ...
First question I asked ..
Why do you want to want to be in the Marines?
He answered, saying, that he loves our country and wants to protect it.
Also, in his heart, he wants to be a man of respect and honor. Becoming a Marine requires a lot of self discipline and inner strength. That means, he will do the hard things and not try to sneak to get out of them. Do you ever have hard things you need to do? Maybe sometimes, you have a big mess to clean up or maybe you have to go to bed when you don't want to.
Do you do the hard thing, or do you sometimes sneak to get out of it?
A man of honor or a woman of honor will do the hard thing and not try to sneak to get out of it.
That is what Johnny wants to do.

Here is a video I found of what it will be like for him.
He is there right now! He is at Parris Island

Johnathan is doing that training, wearing those clothes.
I asked him if he was afraid to go and he told me he was tempted to be afraid but won't let himself be afraid because the Lord had led him to the Marines and he has faith the Lord will be with him through all the really hard training.
That is really good to hear, don't you think?

If you want to, you could pray for Johnny.
You could pray for him right now.
Pray that Johnny will remember that he can do all things through Jesus,
Pray that Johnny will be safe.

AND

Send a letter or a drawing.
We got an email from his mom and this is what she wrote

This is a list of things that the DI said could be sent to help our service men and women:

Airborne

Halls
                                                                Muscle Milk (chocolate)

Muscle Bars (chocolate)

Gatorade
                                                                      Power Bar Gel

Also, hopefully Johnathan will send some addresses of service personnel who don't receive anything and if the Lord leads you could "adopt" someone for sending notes to for this season.

God bless you and thanks for the love and prayers!

Blessings,

Deborah

That's it for now, I will write again later.
I love you!
