I have to tell you, it's been difficult.
I have moved from my beloved home in Yanceyville to the city of Burlington.
Some folks, Benjamin in particular are very happy to be living in the city, he likes that he is close to everything. He likes that our house is right in the middle of all the action. He likes that he can drive to Food Lion in 3 minutes, pick up a bag of chocolate chips and within 15 min. have grams making chocolate chip cookies.
He likes that we are 7 minutes from the gym that has a racquetball court and a huge swimming pool, or that right next door to that is a park that has a carousel with antique horses. He is 10 min from the movies or his friends house or the church - which they are late for every Sunday. There are stores everywhere, restaurants, Barnes and Noble, Starbucks. The internet service is excellent. The family can watch all kinds of movies and listen to all kinds of music.
For me, I am lonely for our woods and our pond. I miss that cute ole tramp, Henry. There in the woods I was free to roam and to run. I could find all kinds of smells of different animals. AND I loved how I could rummage through the woods and find old bones from dead animals, bring them home and chew on them. sigh .. yes, I am lonely for the old place.
There is a dog park here but I am afraid of the dogs in there. They want to sniff and they play roughly, they make me have to snap at them to get them to stop.
One the bright side, I get a lot of walks with grams. She and I go and explore the neighborhood. There are beautiful, huge trees. Sidewalks so we will be safe. The traffic is slow and the neighbors friendly.
Now we are in this new place. Grams likes the house. She likes the wood floors, the pretty kitchen and the solid brick house. She says her bedroom is coming along, slowly, but getting comfortable.
Aunt Elisa's room is so nice, she has this thick rug on the floor next to her bed, I try to lay on it but she yells at me to get out of her room. Don't feel too badly for me, I sneak in there and lay on it when she is not home.
Uncle Benj's room is cool cause it has a real steel sword hanging on the wall above his bed. He doesn't mind if I come into his room. In fact, right outside his bedroom door is my beautiful blanket and pillows. Uncle Benj said he was tired of having to always step over it all the time but he quit complaining about it because he knew that I liked that spot.
Sometimes in the evening when grams is reading in the living room she will bring my blanket out of the hallway and put it right by her chair so I can be next to her. I like that.
We have some pictures of the moving day, would you like to see them?
Papa in his office before the move
Aunt Elisa and Papa in her room
Helpful Sam Rauscher moved lots and lots of boxes.
James and Alice were fooling around between lots and lots of packing and moving.
James and Timothy were amazing.
They moved that HEAVY piano like it was easy!
They moved that HEAVY piano like it was easy!
There were other people who helped too. I don't know where the pictures are of them.
Mrs. Austin and Alex packed and packed.
Mrs. Reynolds and Hannah, packed and packed.
Mrs. Cobb cleaned the house spic and span for the renters.
Wow. Thank you, wonderful souls.
These too are our heroes. They worked in the hot weather to help us.
Sam, Ted, Mr. Rauscher, Timothy, Naomi, Alice, Matt, Mr. Mix
and the last two .. the big, bad beasts of the day
Uncle Benj and James.
They were organizers, they used their strong muscles to carry really heavy things.
That's why we call them
"The beast"
Grammy wants to know how you can thank such kind people, that sacrificed their time, that worked and got hot and exhausted. How do you ever show enough appreciation?

Then we drove the big truck to Burlington and helped us unload it.
We had a big group of smiling people waiting for us to help us, it was really nice.
The Fox family brought dinner, thank you Cindy and Mark :)
Beth, Susan and Virginia, Susanna, Sophie, Mia, Tessa
and Elisa put the kitchen together.
Hannah, Julie, Benjamin being attacked by Moses, Elisa, Luke, Susanna and Amos helped by moving boxes on and off the truck.
I didn't want to get out of the van. Papa had to come out of the house and physically remove me cause I wanted to go back HOME!!!
Papa trying to put his office together.
You can see I am feeling a little lost. I didn't have my cage with my bed and mattress.
Lots of organizing to do. That kitchen - dining room area was also going to include Papa's office for Reliant Survey.
The new living room. I didn't know where to go. I just kinda stood around.
These are the flowers from Mia and her family :)
The bedrooms needed LOTS of organizing.
Uncle Benj was SO tired from such AMAZING hard work that he was too tired to put his sheets on his bed. But he didn't care, he fell right asleep that first night.
That is a small bit to show you how I am doing in this new house.
I guess you could say it's good and bad thing.
There are parts of moving that I like and parts
I don't like.

But, the important thing is we are together and learning new things and meeting new people.
It's a fun adventure and I'm sure I will get used to it and love it.
