SO SCARY!!

Today we had a visitor to our family. His name is Moses. He is a 6 year old little boy and Grammy and Papa are babysitting for his mom and dad.

Moses is a country boy through and through. He went to the pond today with his shorts and no shoes. He just walked all over the sticks, leaves and rocks like they weren't even there. He did wince once though ... he stepped on the thorns.

 We all went right down to the pond. It was me, Grams and Moses. It was a little hot and stuffy that day so Grammy prayed and asked God for a breeze and sure enough .. after a bit .. we had a gentle breeze. You know why don't you? It's just that our Creator, the God of heaven loves us so much that He loves to bless us. Grammy told Him thank you.

We went down to a part of the pond that has a lot of bugs. It was a bog like place ..

.	2. an area of such ground At the bog we found a lot of living creatures.  Barefooted, Moses walked into the mushy mud to find the black bugs. He was able to track and capture the tiny black frogs that hopped in the leaves and sticks. Grammy was standing near Moses, watching him have fun exploring then she says the Lord told her to look into the pond, under the tree branches and when she looked ... there was a copperhead snake watching them. OH MY!!!  It was a young snake mostly just interested in eating frogs but it was watching them. Grammy grabbed Moses by the arm and urgently dragged him to the bank.  At a safe distance they watched the snake go on it's way. It swam through the water going under the water then poking it's head up out of the water. Back and forth, going in and out of the water. Looking for food.  Grams was so scared. Moses was a little scared but they still watched and watched. That's how we learned about them.  There are a lot of great habitat spots in the pond. For instance, in the bog area the water is calm and there are a lot of bugs for the frogs to eat .. so the frogs like to live in that spot that area. And when you have frogs you have snakes because snakes love to eat frogs.  Here are a couple pictures of copperhead snakes.  You know, God made the snakes. He talks about them in the Bible. In fact, I think I remember that there was a snake in the garden of Eden.  Here are two pictures of copperheads. Both of them are camouflaged. Can you find the copperhead in the leaves?  It's really hard to find the copperhead in this picture. It's there, I can see it.  You have to take a few minutes to look.  I can give you a hint  It's toward the bottom center and the bottom left.  Have you found it yet?  When I walk in the woods I don't see many snakes and if I do I just leave them alone.  I have been all over the woods and I have never gotten bitten by a snake.  That's pretty good, don't you think?  Here is that same picture above but this time the copperhead is outlined.  That was the big adventure at Mary's Woodland Cottage today.
