Here is a lady bug, I bet if you start with a ball, you could make it's body, then put two pieces of playdough on it's back for the wings. Then another ball for it's head. Two little balls for the eyes.

An apple tree with the sun. Looks like they just used playdough made into strips to make the sun and the grass. They used a smashed ball for the center of the sun and the top of the tree.
